Create VPN Connection: Mac OS

You can access the Institution network from off campus by creating a VPN connection. This page provides instructions for creating a VPN connection to OC in Mac OS.

Open Network Preferences

      Click on the airport utility at the top-right corner of the screen.

 

    Select “Open Network Preferences.”

Add a New Connection

  1. If the lock on the bottom-left is closed, click on it and then enter your username and password.
  2. Just above the lock, click the plus button to add a connection.

Select the Interface

  1. Select VPN as the Interface
  2. Select L2TP over IPSec as the VPN Type
  3. Name the Service (we recommend VPN to Institution).
  4. Click Create.

Configure Connection

  1. Enter “vpn.oc.edu” for the Server Address.
  2. Enter your Institution username in the username space.
  3. Click “Authentication Settings.”

Configure Authentication

  1. Select Shared Secret and enter Eagles as the password
  2. Press OK

Choose Options

  1. Check the top three boxes within the “Options” tab.
  2. Click “OK.”

Complete Setup

  1. Click Apply to save the Settings.
  2. Click Connect if you’d like to connect now.
