Using VPN Access: Windows 7 and Windows Vista

You can access the Institution network from off campus through a VPN connection. This page provides instructions for using a VPN connection that is already set up in Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

  • If you have not previously set up your VPN connection, visit our instructions for creating a VPN connection in Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

Find Your VPN Connection to OC

  1. Click on the network icon at the bottom-right corner of your screen to reveal a menu.
  2. Click on “VPN to Institution” to reveal the “Connect” button.
  3. Click “Connect.”

Enter OC Login Information

  1. Enter your Institutionusername.
  2. Enter your Institution password.
  3. Make sure the “Domain” box says “Institution.”
  4. Click “Connect.”


To check the status of your connection:

  1. Click the network icon again.
  2. You should see “Connected” next to “VPN to Institution.”

In Windows Vista:

  • Click on the Windows Icon at the bottom left
  • On the right side of the start menu click on “connect to”
  • Double click on the choice “VPN to Institution.”
  • The domain is Institution.EDU
